The British Beard and Moustache Championships 2018

Last weekend Blackpool was taken over by beards and moustachios of all shapes and sizes! For the first time, The Sandgrown Beardsmen were hosting The British Beard and Moustache Championships at the legendary Empress Ballroom, Winter Gardens! It’s a fan-tash-tic fundraising event to raise awareness of men’s health issues. Also all proceeds go to charities, such as Streetlife.

As the official event photographers, we were really looking forward to our free-roaming brief. All about the natural story-telling captures of the day as the fun and craziness unfolds! With a few character portraits of the epic facial fuzz on show too!

THE FOURTH BI-ANNUAL BRITISH BEARD AND MOUSTACHE CHAMPIONSHIPS

Around two-hundred competitors of all ages and genders from eleven different countries took part in the fourth British championships. Throughout the day, colourful characters and whiskerteers went tash-to-tash to see how they measured up in twenty-one spectacular categories.

Comedian Ryan Gleeson did a grand job on compere duties, with his glamorous assistants, The Huntys. The evening’s entertainment also included live music from We Are Troubadour. The fab local band embraced their Empress Ballroom debut big time!

Whilst our retro photobooth, The Mighty Boof! was busy snapping bearded folk backstage, we had an exciting ‘access all areas’ photography pass to document the days shenanigans.
